Nico

Meet Nico,

Nico came to us from Lee county animal control. Late Wednesday morning (12/18/24) we received an email about a small kitten who desperately needed help. He was found in the middle of the road by a good Samaritan and was brought to a vets office for care. Upon exam it became clear his eyes were a problem, along with ear mites and a possible upper respiratory infection. Thursday morning we picked him up and finished his stray hold throughout the weekend. It appears he is completely blind, but he doesn't let that stop him! He is an absolute love bug!

We brought him to our vet this morning (12/23/24) were the doctor determined he will most likely need a double enucleation (both eyes removed). His right eye is perforated and his left eye doesn't seem to have developed properly. He is on pain meds and antibiotics to keep him comfortable until he is big/healthy enough for surgery. We had him combo tested (he was negative for everything) and his vaccines started and are hoping he will be well enough for his neuter and eye surgeries soon!

He has since been neutered and it was determined he does not need his eyes removed!
